FU Swap Card

Happy Tuesday my Blogger Friends - Today - I'm going to share my FU (Fabulously Unique) groups first exchange swap card that we did for the summer. Half of our group goes away for the summer and the other half stays here - so we thought to keep us connected - we would send to each other a swap card that we've designhed around colors and challenge card types that we had arranged in advance. For the month of June - Kris got to pick and she picked two colors....Purple and lime green and her challenge was paper piecing. SO....I hunted for a recipe that I could add any image and saying and go from there. This is what I came up with. I paper pieced the flower in four layers of SU new In-color DSP. I used dimensionals to pop the frame up off the card......and then I also popped up my saying and topped it off with a sweet little piece of looped ribbon. Here's a close-up of my paper pieced flower.....Totally cute and totally fun to create. And here's a close-up of my saying ...... along with the looped ribbon that I added to the side of the frame to give it a little something/something (don't you just love something/something?). Because we only have to make four of these cards - it goes super quick....once you have your card recipe to work with. LOVE how this card turned out and I'm so glad that I made one for myself - I think I have someone special in mind to send this card to this week. SBS Challenge Card

It's Monday and without a doubt.....I had the BEST WEEKEND ever! Lots of play time and seriously got LOTS finished. I have lots to share with you this next week. Today....I want to share the SaddleBrooke Stampers Challenge Card that I made for last weeks meeting. It all started with this tiny circle of sparkly paper..... We were given this little circle of sparkly paper and told to create a card using as much of this sparkly paper as we wanted along with White and Black cardstock.......Here's what I created: I have to say....this seriously is a recipe that I can see making over and over again! I went to my cardmaking recipe sample book and found this recipe and figured I would make it work. And make it work I did. I pulled two different types of black and white paper from my stash and knew that the Stampin' Up! stamp set "Word Play" was going to be perfect for this card. Because I didn't have but a small circle of this sparkly paper - I knew that whatever I was going to punch from it would have to be small! I grabbed my 1/4" circle punch and punched out 3-circles and then used a small piece of dimensional to raise the circles up off my paper. I went through my Michael's ribbon stash and found this reddish poka-dot ribbon to wrap around my "Thanks a MILLION" saying (from the SU stamp set 'Word Play'). I also added a daisy flower made from the SU scallop circle punch...... By cutting in on each scallop of the scallop circle punch - I was able to create the look of daisy petals. I also added a small poka-dot DSP to the center of the scallop circle punch and that help to create the center of my daisy flower. I am thrilled with the way this card turned out and can see using this card recipe for many other card projects.....so....don't be surprised if you see this style around again on my blog. SBS Theme Card

Hi Blogger Friends and I'm going to make this a fast post today - I have plans to connect with Kris today to run down to Joann's......And also my pool chair has my name on it today to soak up some amazing Arizona SUN! SO......what I want to share with you is the card I made for my SaddleBrooke Stampers Theme Card challenge this past Wednesday.......Check this out...... Our theme card challenge was to make a masculine card that had a vintage flair to it. OKAY...VINTAGE and KADIE......YIKES...this one I just had to do because...as many of you know....I don't do Vintage. (Well....I thought I didn't do vintage - but after making this card and the push from my BFF (hi Jan!) - I think I just might like doing vintage!) Every single thing about this card screamed for me to correct it..........(inked and roughed up edges.........smeared and double stamped images)....my look is CLEAN and STRAIGHT and I struggle over shabby and chic! Let me explain......I stamped this Tim Holtz vintage car image with Early Espresso and after I stamped the image - I EVER SO SLIGHTLY picked up the stamp and moved it just a teeny tiny bit and then stamped back down. I was going for a car in motion look.........and I kind of freak myself out.....that is what I achieved! I then had to use my distress tool to rough up the edges and then go at the edges with ink (oh sooooo messy and NORMALLY.....NOT ME!). Here's another close-up of my fabulous chic car.......(I know....some of you pros are out there thinking...what the heck Kadie.....it's just a vintage car in motion........But what I have to say to you'all is........I did this on my first (and only) take) - Maybe there is something to this vintage look! (WInk-Wink my friend Jan!) I printed on my printer the "Enjoy the Journey" only because I wanted to use the SU Oval Punch for my message and the one incuded in this stamp set was just too big. I also wanted to create a band across the center of my card and knew that the new bakers twine wrapped around that band would create the perfect setting for my "Enjoy the Journey" to sit on. I also added a fun little decorative border punched piece to the inside of my card. It was a border that I thought I was going to add to the front of the card - but I liked the band that I made instead and because the decorative border punch piece was done.....I thought...what the heck....pop that little puppy on the inside of my card and call it a day. I have to say that this was a good swap for me to participate in - it seriously took me out of my comfort level and gave me a new found love of vintage....shabby........and chic. I just might have to try this again (thanks Jan for continuing to remind me there is something other than my same old same old ...... clean and simple). I'll be back tomorrow to share the SaddleBrooke Challenge Card that I made for our meeting last week - It's seriously one of my new favorite cards......Hope you can join me. Just a Note Portfolio

Happy Saturday my Blogger Friends! Today I'm going to share the first portfolio I made in a recent Fun Shop that Berta taught us......Let's get started........ This free Fun Shop that Berta taught was offered to my fellow SaddleBrooke Stamping Friends. We brought our own cardstock (of course....I brought Pink) and stamps (thanks Jan for letting me borrow yours) and Berta walked us through the construction of the sweet little number. Here's what my portfolio looked like on the inside. Envelopes on the Left....and Notecards on the Right...... I just love how this portfolio turned out. Super Easy and Super Fast! You can go to my June 8th post to get measurements and view my original post and see my portfolio in another color. Here are the envelopes that stack on the Left side. I used Jan's Close to My Heart stamp set and when I got home I added the "Just a Note" to the front of all my envelopes. And here are my notecards that are held on the right side of this portfolio. To decorate my lined paper - I used Jan's Close to My Heart stamp set. Here's an upclose picture of my notecards - and again - you can go to my June 8th post to obtain all the measurements for the notecards and the portfolio too. And I leave you with an upclose pictures of the sweet little 2-step bird that I stamped in the lower left corner of my notecards. Brie w/Sun Dried Tomatoes

It's Friday and I just know you'all are gearing up for the weekend - I'm certainly looking forward to hanging out in my pool and sending the rest of the time in my studio. It's going to be another hot one in Arizona - so - creating time in A/C is a high priority this time of year. Today I want to share my recipe swap for June - which I'll be handing out on Monday to my fellow Ranch scrapbooking friends. Our recipe exchange was for an appetizer and I turned to something light and easy for my recipe this month. I had just bought this fun tomatoe stamp and went through my recipes and found this recipe for Brie Cheese and Sun Dried Tomatoes....Super Yummy and Super Easy! Here's a close-up of my actual recipe. As you can see....SUPER EASY! Here's the tomatoes that I stamped and then colored them in using my Copic markers - and then adding Crystal Effects to give each of the tomotoe squares a fun glossy look. And one last look at the recipe I'll be exchanging this month. Flip Flop Dress Up

Hi My Blogger Friends - It's Thursday and before I move into my post for today - I want to report in from Weight Watchers yesterday.......I'm a big fat looser - I'm down another 1.3 lbs. I'm super happy that it's still coming off - even after getting to lifetime - It's all good and hope to take off another 5 lbs and then I'll maintain that weight and prepare for returning to Wisconsin in August. I just know that I'll be enjoying some of my all time favorite foods in the world when I go back to Wisconsin at the end of the summer. NOW.....on with the show! Earlier this week I posted these fun flip flops and also the yummy yummy fleece material I picked up at Joann's. This idea came from several blogs that used fleece and flip flop together to create a fun twist on prettying up everyday One Dollar flip flops.  I planned to CASE this recipe and decorate some flip flops for my granddaughters........

I picked the two girls up each a pair of pink (it's their favorite color too.....) and one purple pair and one turquoise pair......

What I did was use my good fabric scissor to cut the fleece up into long running strips ........

And then grabbed a pair of the flip flops and went to town tieing the fleece to the flip flops.

And when it was all over....this is the fabulously yummy creation I made for my little granddaughters. They turned out better than I had hoped and went together in a total snap.

Next up are Ms Brooke's pink pair. Brooke wears a lot of pink and black and I just knew that her pair of pink flip flops were going to need a little bit of black added to the pink fleece. Super Sweet!

This next pair are Ms Hailey's pink pair......Have to say that I would love to have a pair of these for myself. (Pretty sure that all of my neighbors might look at me like I've lost my mind if I decorated my pink flip flops with this fleece!) All I know is Hailey is going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this pair.

And the last pair of flip flops were the turquoise pair and those I made especially for Ms Brooke. Besides liking Pink and Black......Brooke wanted me to make the turquoise pair especially for her. Seriously she is going to squeal when she spots this pair.

So overall.....the little granddaughters are going to make a haul with their new flip flops. They went out yesterday afternoon - so I'm thinking that they should receive their box either on Friday or Saturday of this week.

Summer Post for CJToo

Welcome Blogger Friends - Today I'm posting a special link to Tracy over at CraftJunkieToo (http://craftjunkietoo.blogspot.com/). I'm on Tracy's Design Team and she has asked us to create a Summer Fun project (we pick). So I decided to make a fun little Portfolio and surprise someone back in Wisconsin with this great little gift. Here's my portfolio - It's just a 8-1/2" x 10" piece of cardstock....Scored in the middle and then on the long side - I've scored at 2-1/2" to create the pocket.

I added five different note cards to the right hand side pocket and five white envelopes to the left. (of course I couldn't just insert plan white envelopes - so I added a bit of pretty to the front of each envelope!

Here's how the notecards and envelopes look when you open this sweet little portfolio up.

My envelopes are decorated with matching SU ink.........and some fun stamps that I thought would add that special little something something to my cards.......

And here are my five little 4-1/4" x 5-3/8" note cards. I had a PDF file that is notebook paper - but you seriously could do the same thing with a packet of lined notebook paper and just cut the pages down to fit your note cards.

I then grabbed my Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler stamp set and added this rockin cool "Just a Note" stamp to the top of each of my note cards. I also added one of the Circle stamps from the Circle Circus stamp set from Stampin' Up! and created five adorable note cards for my portfolio.

I leave you with one last sample of another portfolio that I made. I actually got this project idea from my stamping friend Berta who taught us (SaddleBrooke Stampers) how to make this portfolio a couple weeks ago at a Saturday Fun Shop. THANKS Berta for this darling little treasure - I can't wait to make a couple more for my friends back in Wisconsin.
