Are you running short on time to create a quick Father's Day card?????
This shirt and tie card comes together so quickly that you'll probably be able to make it Sunday morning .......... and still make it look like you spent a lot of time creating it.
I made this card as my share card for the SouthWest Stamper Demo meeting last night. So....I made about 14 of them and my sentiment inside was stamped with a 'birthday' wish.
I started out with a 4-1/4"x9" piece of Whisper White cardstock and scored it at 4-1/2". I used thin Sticky Tape to adhere my two sides together ....... And this formed the pocket that my insert piece is sliding into. My collar insert piece is 3-3/4"x5-1/4". To create the collar.....I measured in the left and right side 1" and also 1" at the top on both sides. Where those lines intersect......I cut a 1" slit on both the left and right side of my insert piece. Then all I needed to do was fold the two cut slit pieces over to meet in the middle and that formed my collar.
I hand drew a tie and cut it out with Designer Series Paper. And I used a 1-1/4" square for the knot at the top of my tie. My hanky pocket is a 1" piece of coordinating cardstock ....... And I added some white stitching around the pocket for a little WOW FACTOR.
The final touch was using my Stampin' Write Markers to stitch around the entire shirt to bring a tiny bit of FUN to my otherwise plain white shirt.
I created a template and instructions sheet that I passed out to the ladies in my SW Stampers group last night ........... It walked the ladies through the steps on how to create this card. If you would like a copy of that template/instructions, contact me with your email address and I'll be happy to forward that document to you.
