Valentine's Pencils

Happy Wednesday My Blogger Friends!
Today I've got my youngest grandson Steven's Valentine's Classmate Treats to share with you.  I wanted to make something extra special for Steven and came up with this FUN VALENTINE'S FLAG TREAT that I think he is going to enjoy handing out to his fellow classmates on Valentine's Day.  Here's what I created......
They are Valentine's Day Banner Flag Pencils.......
I took pencils that I bought at the Dollar Store and just prettied them up a bit!
I started with a colored piece of cardstock that measured 1-1/4" x 3-3/4".  I used the Stampin' UP! Chevron and Perfect Dots Embossing Folders to emboss my cardstock.........
After I had all my cardstock pieces embossed.....I simply snipped one end of the cardstock to create a flag.
I then put a piece of Sticky Tape on both sides of the NON SNIPPED END of my flag and removed the backing from the Sticky Tape and began wrapping that end around the pencil.  I made sure that when I began wrapping the banner flag around my pencil that I stayed below the eraser section .... and that was mainly done so the kids would be able to actually USE their Valentine's Pencil in the classroom!
By putting Sticky Tape on both sides of the cardstock....It allowed the cardstock to not only stick onto the pencil.........but then also stuck back onto the cardstock and formed a tighter bond.  That way I didn't have to worry the flag banners were going to start falling off the pencils.
I then grabbed a "retired" (very old) Stampin' UP! set (PERFECT Valentine's message for my grandsons classmates) and began preparing the sentiment that I wanted to go on top of my banner flags.
I STAMPED AND EMBOSSED (yes....it took extra time doing the embossing...but the end results were WELL WORTH IT) each of the sentiments on Whisper White and then punched each of them out with a 1-3/8" circle punch.  I also added a second circle to the backside of each of the banner flags so the white circle sentiment could be seen from either side.
And here are all 23 Valentine's Pencils all packaged up and ready to be shipped out to Steven.  Just know he is going to be SO PROUD when he passes these out to his fellow classmates.

Thanks for joining me today.....I'll be back tomorrow to share a Valentine's Day card with you.  Hope you can make plans to join me for that share......Keep Living Your Dream!
